This, taken from a New England Journal of Medicine website, is apparently a squamous cell carcinoma   (a type of skin cancer) gone awry. I’m fascinated that someone could let it get to that size and shape on their hand before seeking medical attention.  Poor woman had to have her fingers amputated but is apparently okay 2 years on.
