Boxing Day - the Australian way…

Doing Boxing Day in Sydney involves 4 things.

1. Christmas recovery. My recovery this year was from shuttling relatives about from airport to Auburn, back home to Glebe, then to Auburn to pick up the rellies and take them to do the Tamarama to Bronte beach walk and drop them back at Auburn before driving home.

2. Watching the start of the Sydney to Hobart from Sydney Harbour or South Head.

3. The cricket - there’s always a Boxing Day test match.  This year it’s in Melbourne and Australia are playing South Africa.  After collapsing at home from ferrying relatives from Auburn to South Head and back again, Australia is 4/232.  If you don’t understand cricket, don’t bother stopping to puzzle it out.

4. Post Christmas sales.  Apparently the stores opened at 5am in the city.  Meaning I’d have to wake at 4am to get there in time.  Hah, not bloody likely.  Stores close at midnight tonight so we might stroll into the city after dinner when it’s cooler.

I suppose I could also add spending time at the beach and getting sunburnt but that’s pretty much par for the summer course.
